Steve has been a Roswell resident for over four decades. He has previously served Roswell on City Council from 1991 to 2000. While on council Steve had several results driven initiatives:

  • Launched the nation’s most successful curbside recycling program and expanded the recycling center using cost-free land in Fulton County
  • Eliminated a $1 million deficit in the sanitation fund
  • Co-led the redevelopment and restoration of Canton Street and the historic district, including underground utilities and context-friendly street enhancements
  • Championed Parkway Village zoning to ensure green space and horse fences along Hwy 92
  • Secured land for Roswell Riverside Park and the donation of property for Leita Thompson Park
  • Promoted the joint police/fire training center on Hembree Road, saving millions of dollars while benefiting north Fulton cities

Beyond council, Steve served as the North Fulton Representative on the Fulton County Library Board and Vice Chair, helping to make the East Roswell Library a reality while reforming the library system’s hiring practices. Steve's commitment also extends to local organizations where he's led homeowner associations in Pine Valley and Northcliff, served on the Roswell United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, and taught youth Sunday School for 20 years.

Steve's community involvement also includes serving on the Children’s Development Academy (CDA) Board for 16 years (three as Chair), and chairing United Way campaigns that raised over $5 million.

After 42 years, Steve retired as a partner from the Atlanta-based law firm Arnall Golden Gregory LLP. In 1979, he received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and received his law degree from Duke University in 1982. He has been a member of the Georgia State Bar since 1982.

Steve is a proud father of two accomplished children, Lilla Dorvee (29) and Russell Dorvee (26). Currently he and his wife, Ida, reside on the east side of Roswell in the Northcliff community.
